SUMMARY:Webinar with Brenda Aloff
DESCRIPTION:Stress\, Emotions and Arousal: Designed for Ring Success\nMembers are free | Non-Members $5.00 \nThis online seminar will benefit those wanting to achieve success with their performance dogs (in any dog sport). \nAs dog sport competitor / trainer\, you know that stress and arousal can be major obstacles to your success in dog sports. Brenda Aloff’s online seminar on Stress\, Emotions\, and Arousal: Designed for Ring Success is designed to help you recognize and prevent stress and arousal in your dog. She will teach you relaxation exercises like “Be Still” and “Sit Restraint Tolerance” that can create a state of comfort\, as well as anchoring exercises like “Eye Contact” and “Impulse Control” that can help you create an emotional anchor for your dog. \nYou’ll also learn about the optimal state of arousal for certain exercises and why impulse control is crucial for success. Join us for an informative and practical online seminar that will help you achieve ring success with your performance dogs. \nA replay will be available for registered participants from Oct. 25 to 27 (an email will be sent to the registered participants on the morning of Oct. 25). \nSeminar Outline\n\nHow to recognize stress/arousal\nHow to prevent or derail stress/arousal\n\nRelaxation on cue Exercises (create a state of relaxation or comfort)\n\nBe Still\nSit Restraint Tolerance\n\n\nAnchoring exercises (create an emotional anchor)\n\nEye Contact\nImpulse Control\n\n\n\n\nWhat state of Arousal should your dog be in for certain exercisesExample: Imagine you are in the open ring in obedience competition and coming up to the dumbbell retrieve but your dog’s arousal state is such that you know he is going to either kick the dumbbell or chew on it as he brings it back. You would want to lower your dog’s arousal state to get a more controlled performance on this exercise.\n\n\nWhat is Impulse Control (it’s not what you think)\n\n \nAbout Brenda Aloff\nBrenda has been training dogs professionally for over twenty years. She started her serious study of dog behavior upon discovering Karen Pryor’s “Don’t Shoot the Dog”. For some years she ran a boarding kennel while training and rescuing dogs\, but then decided to open Heaven on Arf Academy and concentrate exclusively on training and behavioral work. She has put out five training books and a DVD. Somehow she manages to run seminars around the globe as well. \nFor more information on this accomplished trainer\, visit her website https://brendaaloff.com/ . \nAuthor Brenda Aloff is a professional dog trainer specializing in problem behavior. A large part of her practice consists of dogs that have been referred to her when traditional training techniques have failed. She works with owners on re-socialization of fearful and aggressive dogs as well as teaching puppy socialization\, competition obedience\, conformation\, tracking\, back-packing\, musical freestyle\, and agility classes at Heaven On Arf Behavior and Training Center in Midland\, Michigan. She is a member of The Association of Dog Obedience Instructors\, Trainer’s Forum and several other breed and training organizations. Brenda travels all over the world giving talks on canine aggression and learning theory. \n\n \n  \n
